A task that many people waste far too muc time on is sleep. I know some people who sleep 12 hours a day. It’s tough to be productive when you sleep 1/2 of your life away as opposed to 1/3 or 1/4.

Well, there actually is a scientific way to do just that, called polyphasic sleep.
Thomas Edison swore by only cat-naps. He was a pure genius and one of the most productive person we’ve ever known. There might be something to this.
The fact remains that you only spend 1-2 hours in REM sleep. This is where most of the benefit of sleep comes from. Most of us spend 8 hours of sleep just to get those 1-2 hours of REM sleep in. However, you can train yourself to get 2 hours of REM sleep in the form of 20-minute naps throughout the day rather than in one lump.
There are six methods of sleep to choose from:
Monophasic Sleep- 8 total hours in one chunk
Polyphasic Sleep One Nap- One 20 minute nap, 6 hours core sleep
Two Nap- Two 20 minute naps, 4.5 hours core sleep
Three Nap- Three 20 minute naps, 3 hours core sleep
Four Nap- Four 20 minute naps, and 1.5 hour core sleep
Thomas Edison- Six 20 minute naps, 4 hours apart
I used to follow the Polyphasic sleep Two-Nap. I get about 4.5 hours of sleep a night and I usually take one 20 minute nap during the day, sometimes two. This bought me roughly another 3 hours during the day. Initially, it was amazing. It worked for about 2 months. During this time period, I had more energy, but then, my body started shutting down at about the 3 month mark of doing htis.
Now I follow the polyphasic sleep and I can get by without the nap in the middle. 6 hours is enough for me. I know a lot of people think they need 9 hours of sleep, but they’ve also conditioned their mind to believe it. If you believe you’ll get tired without X amount of sleep, your brain will meet that with an answer by making you tired because you set the conditions that it’s a priority for you. You have to truly believe it can work if you want to break the pattern.
Meditation with binaural beats is also known to help regenerate the brain. It has been suggested that a couple of hours of proper meditation can be the equivalent of a full night’s sleep.
Do some trial-and-error and see what works best for you.
