The more we learn about the universe, the more we realize how small we are. We thought the Earth was the center of the universe. Then we come to learn that the Earth revolves around the sun, which is the center of our solar system, which is only part of a galaxy, which is amongst billions of galaxies in the universe.
This should humble us very much so, but seemingly it will make us understand we are even more special when we link up the right information and get out of the state of selfishness.
As a baby, we feel like the world revolves around us. We can’t take care of anyone. We can’t even take care of ourselves. It seems like we are powerful, but then we come to learn we can’t get what we truly want in this state. So, then we learn to take care of ourselves and eventually, we learn to provide, which is ultimately a level up that gives you more of the rewards you truly desire.
The key to being the best version of yourself is being the most humble version of yourself.
Humility with confidence is a fine line that we must walk in life. And if we don’t humble ourselves on a daily basis (more like an-every minute basis), we set ourselves up for eventual humbling failure.
Anytime you’re too arrogant and haughty, you need to shut it down. Not just externally, but internally as well. If you noticed a sentence you said to someone that went from confidence to arrogance, reflect on it immediately and recognize what you should have said in place of it. Arrogance, pride, and ego often prevents people from getting to where they need to be.
Self doubt is very, very healthy. How can you know if you’re doing the right thing if you never doubt yourself?
Pride often comes with subtle lies that try to rationalize we are doing our best. Justification just may be to your demise.
If you’re anyone like me you have a lot of pride when it comes to how smart and capable you are and how hard you work. Many people are surprised when they meet me in person because they say that I come across very different in videos than in person. Externally I’ve worked on trying to rid of arrogance over the last several years in terms of what people see, but internally there are always subtle thoughts of negative comparison constantly firing away that I try to remove all day long.
It isn’t until you rip those out that you can be your true self. The humbled version of you is the powerful version of you.
However, you have to be careful of being proud to be humble. That’s a reverse trap. It’s an oxymoron. Humility comes from constant deflection and realizing your place. It’s in understanding how little in control you actually are of so many things. You didn’t create this vastly complex world.
Now, obviously you don’t want to get too low either.
Every time you have a low thought (unhealthy self esteem) and every time you have too high of a thought (unhealthy arrogance) you need to correct it.
Have a great week and remain humble!
I would love to show you techniques I use on how you can rip these harmful thoughts out one by one, on a coaching call.
